Ride
in a soft-riding 4x4 SUV with an experienced desert guide to explore the beauty
and history of the Picacho Mountains. View breathtaking scenery from
high on the mountain-side. Learn about the flora and fauna of the dense
mountain-side forest.
See huge Saguaro (including a crested Saguaro), Ocotillo, Prickly Pear,
Cholla, Crucifixion Bush, and other desert plants. Drive through a 100-year old
ranch and see the old mesquite wood corral. Walk through old mine tailings and
see beautiful pink and white quartz rocks. Eat lunch while experiencing
spectacular mountain vistas. See how man-made water collection tanks help the
desert wildlife survive during heat and drought. Hear our guide tell about
Ancient Indian Villages that once covered the valley floor. Space is limited to
5-6 people/trip. Eco-Field Trips will take place on Mondays, starting in
October, and run through March.
